A Jordanian organization said Thursday that it dispatched 41 trucks carrying food aid to the Gaza Strip.
The Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization dispatched the convoy of food aid in collaboration with the Jordanian Armed Forces and in partnership with the World Food Program (WFP) and several international charitable organizations, the charity said in a statement.
The statement said the convoy will pass through the Kerem Shalom crossing to Gaza.
Jordan is connected to Israel through three crossings: Sheikh Hussein (Jordan River from the Israeli side), King Hussein Bridge (Allenby Bridge from the Israeli side) and Yitzhak Rabin/Wadi Araba (from the Israeli side).
On Tuesday, Jordan's Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi squarely held Israel responsible for an assault by illegal Israeli settlers on a Jordanian aid convoy en route to the Beit Hanoun (Erez) crossing to enter Gaza.
Israel has killed more than 34,900 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injured over 78,500 others following an attack by the Palestinian group Hamas on Oct. 7 last year which claimed 1,200 lives.
Over seven months into the Israeli war, vast swathes of Gaza lay in ruins, pushing 85% of the enclave's population into internal displacement amid a crippling blockade of food, clean water and medicine, according to the UN.
Israel stands accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice. An interim ruling in January said it is "plausible" that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza and ordered Tel Aviv to stop such acts and take measures to guarantee that humanitarian assistance is provided to civilians in the enclave.
